Initiating Smart Change at Expedia: A HireVue Video Interview Story

In my previous role as an Investment Analyst at XYZ Company, I had the opportunity to demonstrate my initiative and drive positive change within the organization. As part of my responsibilities, I supported the Investment Management team by conducting research and providing strategic recommendations.

During my time with the company, I noticed that our regulatory reporting demands were increasing, and our processes for managing these demands were not as efficient as they could be. Recognizing the upside of greater efficiencies and added security, I took the initiative to propose smart and responsible changes within the firm.

Over a period of two weeks, I conducted thorough research on new tools, processes, and systems that could boost our team's efficiencies and safeguard us through a better-consolidated system. This presented an excellent opportunity for our small firm to explore a more robust and efficient tech stack.

As the pandemic unfolded, we began to realize that regulations were becoming increasingly stringent, and investment banks were required to have greater safeguards against compliance breaches. It was crucial for us to adapt quickly to these changes and ensure that our processes were up-to-date and secure.

Through my research and analysis, I made solid recommendations to the Investment Management team on how to improve our regulatory reporting processes and enhance our overall security measures. My manager was very pleased with my initiative, and today, the firm has stronger processes for managing regulatory reporting demands.

My experience at XYZ Company taught me the importance of being proactive and taking initiative in driving positive change within an organization. By spotlighting the upside of greater efficiencies and added security, I was able to make a meaningful impact on the company's operations and set a precedent for future innovation and growth.
